    Hyperthreading disabled?

"3) My DVD writer says to only use DVD+RW, what is the difference between a DVD-RW and a DVD+RW, did I buy the wrong one?" DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW are more or less competing technologies, akin to the Beta versus VHS recorders years ago before the Beta finally died out. The only thing...

    TTF font not showing up

In the Fonts folder under the File menu should be an entry Install New Font. That has to be used because simply copying a font to the Fonts folder doesn't install it. Try putting the font in another location and then installing it. Also, the font won't be available to any program until it...

DDR ram not working on a ECS k7s5a. Could it be my power supply?

Here's a link about the board, doesn't seem to be a bad board: http://www.ocworkbench.com/2002/ecs/k7s5aguide/ABOUT%20THE%20K7S5A%20BOARD.htm

    You're welcome.

    MS Word 2002

No. Once you clicked the No button when prompted to save the changes, Word got rid of anything not already saved. That's different from the document being in memory when the computer suddenly shut down from loss of power or had to be turned off when it locked up.

    Help with Internet Connection Sharing

One cable from the other room to the router works fine on mine, gives me both 'net access and file/printer access on the other computers plugged into the router [which had replaced an 8-port switch].

    Help with Internet Connection Sharing

How many ports on the router? Mine [Belkin Wireless] has 4 and each computer connects directly to the router with CAT5 straight-through cables then to the 'net.

    drivers for usb 2.0

The Service Pack 1a for WinXP is a download, doesn't need a CD Key for installation. It's also available on CD, also does not need the CD Key. If you have a WinXP CD that says Includes Service Pack 1, it does need the key.

    Ethernet Port Jacks

You can have 2 NICs in one computer. With 2 computers only, you'll need a cross-over cable.

    Invisible hard drive in Win98

I did want to mention, hiding a drive letter with TweakUI usually disables the right-click and Explore function on the Start button and My Computer.

    Slot 1= Slot A????

bigtedeuk is correct, the second version of the Pentiums and the AMD K6/K6-2/K6-3 all used the Socket 7 boards. The first Pentiums were the 60MHz and 66MHz versions and used in a Socket 4 motherboard. Next came the Socket 5 and speeds of 75-133MHz. But here is a chart of the various sockets...

    Invisible hard drive in Win98

I know you can 'hide' drives using TweakUI 1.33 from Microsoft, may be worth getting it and installing it to check the drive list. http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/downloads/PowerToys/Networking/NTTweakUI.asp

    Slot 1= Slot A????

Also, NO. Slot 1/Slot 2 were Intel Pentium II/Celeron processors and Slot A was an AMD Athlon CPU. They didn't interchange. I have one of each, a Pentium II/266MHz and an AMD Athlon 700MHz.
