Addendum: Perhaps I should mention that whatever happens, happens early. Windows bootup reports errors in drive D: and tries to run ScanDisk.- sgz

I just put together a new system (ECS P4M800PRO-M MB, Pentium 805 CPU, 512MB Memory) and installed Win98SE. When I boot with my external hard drive connected and turned on, it appears both as the D: drive (just as a second IDE drive would), and as the last drive. I tried marking the drive as...- sgz
