For your additional question, do you mean the NETBIOS name of the domain? Or NETBIOS name of the workstation?
Since you said you upgraded your "network" to AD-based, I'm assuming that all of your workstations has joined the domain, which will have the FQDN instead of just the NETBIOS name...
I'm guessing that you:
1) setup Global Security Group: Accounting
2) assigned this Group to the Accounting Folder
3) deleted Accounting security group
4) re-created Accounting security group
5) assigned user to this Group (Karen)
The group you initially given permission to the Accounting folder...
So, is there no way to add groups to Remote Web Workplace Users?
Is the Remote Web Workplace Users security group the only thing that controls the RWW acess?
Best practice would be using DHCP. Set your AD DNS server as DNS on your DHCP scope options.
Set the external DNS servers assigned to you by your ISP as fowarders on your AD's DNS setting.
This way, if you ever need to change the external DNS (by ISP's decision or if you are changing ISP)...
Even if you have WEP configured for your wireless, and secured your DHCP, it still won't cover statically assigned NICs though.

However, as fore-mentioned, even adding DepartmentX (where the user is directly added to this group), it does not give the user access. So, it doesn't process groups at all? Or only won't process nested groups?
