Cdogg, You are right I don't know if there was any data listed on the "Bad" Sectors. I am just assuming that it is because I can't get to anything on the drive except the windows startup menu. I can go to the command prompt only. So, maybe instead of trying to fix the bad sectors I want to start...

edfair, Hi I am using 98SE not 95 and wat do mean "over the to"? Reinstall 98 over the top of the existing install? What manager to use? I am not quite understanding the term? And how to go about creating? Thanks

Edfair, Yes, I believe the bad stuff is at front. I can get a command prompt. That's about all I can do. I have run Spinrite 4 or 5 times and there is no change in the scenerio. The program is not locking out bad sectors or anything. On my last run I thought that it had corrected the problem...

Actually, what I am concerned about is that those bad sectors is stopping windows from starting. So I can't get to my data. So, I really am trying to resolve that problem.

No, can do on this computer. The computer immediate go to the startup menu and will only go to the command prompt. It will not go to start, run etc. When I type in scanreg, scanprog, it goes to the register checker and just freezes. I tried copying a start book from bootdisk.com but it didnt work

Ed, I don't know how to run the scandisk from the floppy. Would you please instruct me. I don't have a back up boot disk but I do havea 98 CD Rom and I was trying to start it from there with no luck. So, I am open to suggestions. Thank
