Thanks to both of you! Here's the latest... Action ------ (1) deleted c:\program files\visioneer\ & its paperport subdirectory (2) unchecked msconfig startup entry: fbdirect C:\PROGRA~1\VISION~1\PAPERP~1\fbdirect.exe (3) restarted computer >>> Popup still appeared. Action ------...- mi2sense
