Thank you! I think that is exactly what I needed. I changed the mode, but am still not able to log onto the sql server :( The network is set up in an odd way - the sql server I'm trying to connect to is actually on a workstation, with an MSDE installation. I am trying to connect through EM...
Can someone tell me what the OJ in in the joining claus of the sql query passed from CR is? I have a report that is doubling some fields. If I past the sql query into query analyzer, it does the same thing, but if I take the oj off, works fine. What in the world is it?
Thanks,
Sarah
Thanks for the pointer. We found out just now that it was only because of a data problem that we had multiples of c1 for an employee. Once we got that fixed, it cleared up the whole problem. Thanks again!
Is there a way to have a formula field that uses two groups? I want to select the max grouped by one thing, then the sum of that grouped by something else. Here's the syntax I've got, and it gives me a summary/running total field could not be created...
Thanks for the tip on aggregate functions.
I know that Crystal isn't as efficient in it's joining as SQL is at the backend. Do you know if the qry files are faster than Crystal? Is it as fast as SQL?
Thanks,
Sarah
It is in the show SQL window. Guess that was the problem - it probably wasn't designed to be modified from there. Yesterday I was able to work around the problem outside of Crystal, but I'm interesed in using the crystal queries in the future.
I've never used the SQL Designer, but if I...
Crystal 8, sql 2000
I am trying to change a table from inside the sql query window, but I can't make crystal see the fields. It doesn't give me an error, it just won't see it. If I were to change the table in sql, I would verify database to make it see it - how can I make it see the changed...
We've fixed the pasword, and I think that that is working. The event log has events with a code of 17055, but I don't know where to find out what that means.
I'm sorry this is so sketchy - I'm having to get this info over the phone, so I'm not very clear what's going on myself.
Thanks,
Sarah
We have a client whose sql server will not start. We've tried starting from the service manager, it just won't start. We tried starting it through enterprise manager, and it gives the message connection failded - check sql server connection properties. Does anyone have any ideas?
Ken,
Thanks for the suggestion - I'm not feeling very intelligent right now :).
The main report has nothing in it. Here, I do have a few records I'd put in originally planning to use them for linking, then decided not to use it that way. But, at the client's site, I never inserted any...
Yes, the two subreports are different than the one that is showing up. They are linked to the main report by user-input date criteria, and the one that is showing up is not linked at all.
The data I'm using here is almost the same that the client's using - it's several days older, but it's...
Ken,
Yes, I am sure that the reports are exactly the same. I tried copying my copy to their machine, subreports don't show. Copied back to my machine, the show again. There, I checked to make sure that the subreports weren't on-demand, and they weren't. I did make one on-demand, then...
I have a report that's made up of three subreports. On my station, I can preview it fine. On the customer's site, I can only see one of the subreports. When I preview the report there, if I double-click on the place the subreport should be, it will bring it up. Does anyone know why this...
Yes, I can open all reports without any problems except that one report. I tried opening that one with file-open, still got same error message. I posted this thread earlier because that was the only copy of that report I had access to. Since then I've been able to get another copy, which...
Chris,
I don't think I'm using Seagate Info. It's just Crystal Reports 8.0.1.0 in the about. And, I'm just trying to double-click on the report and open it. I also tried opening crystal and then opening the report from in there, but still the same error.
Sarah
We have a report that we're having some trouble with, and I need to check some stuff out in it, but Crystal will not allow me to open it - I get a message that just says "Dos error", and then kicks me out of crystal. Has anyone encountered this before, and does anyone have any ideas...
I have a name field that is formated like Smith, John D. Can someone tell me what the best way to reformat it to John D. Smith would be? I could drop back out to sql and do it, but if I can, I'd rather do it in crystal.
Crystal 8, sql 2000.
Thank you for your help.
Fortunately, the customer has been doing very little data entry in the past two weeks, so we think there are only 8-10 hours worth of data entry lost. We were able to succesfully restore from the backup.
Needless to say, we now have a scheduled backup job running...
