For what it's worth...........I don't know how much you invested in the newer cpu, but maybe it would be worth finding a refurbed, used or inexpensive mobo and install the new cpu, add more memory and upgrade? There's always that possibility! Or you could watch at garage sales, flea markets...
Do the fans in the power supply run? Are there any "beeps" or series of "beeps" when the computer is trying to boot? According to this:
