There is lot much traffic going on between server of arp request. Anyway all the servers are 24x7 days up and ARP request is sent just for checking availability of the other machine, isn't it? I think this traffic can be decreased to allow other one to gothrough. I found the gc_stale_time.

I made a mistake in checking the NIC drivers. Actually I have 4 NIC's. of two differnt make. THe order of NIC's got reversed. It was amazzing ... why it was working previosly i still couldn't find out. After changing the order of modules in /etc/modules for NIC's It is working fine....
...all were working fine... After shifting.. three of them are not in network..

I need this because i have cable net at home and the ethernet card is provided by ISP. I want to change that one. And the connection is based on the MAC address. I tried with new card but it is not allowing me to login.
yes manarth is right. the subnet mask is used to identify your network id. The subnetmask is ANDed with the IP, which gives your network address.
eg. IP 192.168.0.1
subnetmask 255.255.255.0
192.168.0.1 11000000.10101000.00000000.00000001
255.255.255.0...
do you already have linux installed on the system? if you are installing windows later you will have to modify your boot loader. which loader you are using.. Grub / Lilo?
if it is grub its configuration file is at /boot/grub/grub.conf

for restarting http service on linux
service httpd restart
httpd is the service which is handling the request for the web server. you can use
service httpd status
for checking the currently running service..
to add the httpd service in the run level you want..
chkconfig --level 235 httpd on
