I had a 4 port wireless AT&T router and I could connect to several computers outside my house using remote desktop. This router went bad so I had to replace it by a Dlink DI-524, after installing this Dlink router I cannot use remote desktop anymore from my house it will never connect me with...
I found out that the hard drive from my server had a firewall setting preventing it from being accessed. I removed it by clicking on properties, sharing, View your Windows firewall setting and unchecking On - recommended. Problem solved, thanks for the assistance received.

For authentication I use the same user ID and password that Remote desktop uses. I connect using remote desktop. The disk is shared I'll check the NTFS permissions.

One more piece of information. I have several other drives mapped within the network. It's just this one critical drive, the one I need to access, that won't accept connections.

No, I can't access the server. The remote network is a workgroup, we use a computer with centralized data that we call a server. The drive in the "server" is shared, within the local network there is full access to it. So, I really don't need special rights to access the "server". I got this VPN...
I have a linksys WRV54G, I'm using linksys quick vpn sw on my remote computers. I can establish a vpn connection with QuickVPN. When I try to map any network drive in my remote location it always comes back to me as this network drive is not accessible. I can ping the server's ip address and its...

I have a follow up question, if besides viewing files I end up wanting to run an application from a remote location like our appointments software and view only, not edit, the appointments Am I better off using something like PCanywhere instead of a VPN?
Thx
I created a tunnel with two D-Link DI-824VUP. My understanding was that once the tunnel was created then I could see my remote network as if I was directly connected to it. However when I click on My Network Places I can only see the local network. The idea behind using the VPN was to remotely...
