Yes, There is a backup tape made every night, but I would have to wait a day or two to get the tape out of storage. I did try using a demo version of a recovery utility called access recovery to see if it would work and it did. The only problem with that is that the demo version only recovers...

It does sound like a corrupted file, but even when I try importing the table into another database I get the same error.

I have a table in a database that I cannot open and gives an "invalid argument" error. The table can be opened in design view, but not in datasheet view. I have tried using the microsoft compact database utility and the Jet comp utility but neither worked. what can i do????

Thanks for the reply! I'm just a kid working on databases for my company and it amazes me the kind of stuff that gets screwed up on a database. Just to think that at one time I thought you could create a database, use it, and thats it, funny!
