    Two IPOs, One DHCP Tag

LLDP is exactly what I'd like to do but my network team says that they don't know how to do this on Cisco switches. They are providing the VLAN ID and QoS settings by LLDP but they say that Cisco cannot provide a call server address for Avaya phones because the message format is not supported by...

    Two IPOs, One DHCP Tag

I have two IP Office systems in separate campus buildings. The network is flat so I can't use the DHCP option tags to select the MCIPADD address. What I would like to do is put both IP Office MCIPADD addresses in the DHCP string and then let the 96xx phone figure out which one to use based upon...

    1408 Message button programming

I can't tell if the Message button on 1408 sets can be programmed. On some of my sites I have a voice mail service, on others voice mail pro. I'd like to always have this button to be for voice mail retrieval ... would need it to be a speed dial to the mail service toll free. Is this possible?

    Good cdr software

Mitch672 mentioned Metropolis OfficeWatch. We are thinking about it since we can get 911 calls to trigger emails. Might be a good backup to crisis alert. Anyone else tried this product? Other than 911 we want something easy to administer and very basic.

    "Unavailable" in 46xx Call Log

Hey thanks dwalin, this helped me tremendously in getting a quick and straight answer from Avaya. It is fixed in ACM 3.1.1 load 628.7 and ACM 3.1.2 load 632.1 . Unfortunately there is no plan to fix this in ACM 2.2 and ACM 3.0 which I'm running.

    Unlocking a 46xx Phone

The other thread talks about a phone that has a valid address that you want to change to a static. My problem is the phone has "bad" address - it is a static in subnet that I can't physically get to (or an incorrect VLAN ID and VLAN test =0). When I press the Mute button I always get a "bad"...

4610SW Phones registration problem using multiple CLANs

If you still have the problem you might want to do an SNMP query to the phone's IP address. You'll find the MIB on Avaya's support site. Look at the MCIP list - how does it compare to what is in your DHCP tag? This isn't a definitive check - I've seen bad option 176 tags and still the SNMP list...

Problems dialling out on faxes and modems

We almost never have fax problems - we use the codec set setting of fax relay. We had problems with modems on ACM 1.3 to ACM 2.1. On ACM 2.2 and ACM 3.x we find the best modem results with the codec set setting of modem pass through - but you'll only get consistent results to 9.6k or 14.4k only...

    Avaya IP phone boot problem

We've seen router or looping kinds of conditions for errors in the DHCP offer default gateway (check for typos in DHCP), PBX ip-network-map specifies an incorrect VLAN ID, and a DHCP server connected via 802.1Q trunk instead of an access VLAN. Just like avayafreakje suggests, check for typos and...

    Unlocking a 46xx Phone

When the 4602 and 4620 phone first came out we used to be able to press * to access the ADDR function. If we ever had a bad static address or VLAN ID in the phone we could use this to unlock it and make a change. Is there any way to do this anymore? I've got a bad static address in a phone right...

    "Unavailable" in 46xx Call Log

We get "unavailable" for the calling party's number of the Call Log on 4610 and 460 phones when the call comes into a bridge appearance. It displays correctly when the call comes into a standard line appearance - the problem is only on bridged appearances. Anyone have a solution?

Hearing yourself on Avaya IP phones

We from timte to time have a user moving from an 8410 to a 4610/4620 and complain that they can "hear themselves" in the earpiece. It is very low level and a little annoying, but the big thing is that it is just different than the old phones. Everything on the network is very good, firmware...

    Fax over WAN Codec Help

You set your preference on the ip-codec-set form in Site Administrator. You then use the ip-network-region form to define which codec set is used between the WAN sites. You'll see the choice for fax relay and fax pass-through on the second page of the ip-codec-set form. When a fax tone is...

    Announcements not playing?

Is it possible that one of the recordings on the VAL is blank or empty and that announcement gets a large number of play requests?

    Ethernet powered loud bell/stobes

Does anyone know of a loud bell/strobe that uses power over ethernet instead of 120 Vac to power it? We use a lot of the Wheelock units but it is a heck of a lot cheaper to get a PoE cable to the locations than it is to get an electrician to install an extra electic outlet...
