cdav,
The issue with running two jobs involves the media pools. The first job moves the tape into the save set, and it becomes unavailable to the second job.
Actually I think once a tape is in a media pool, whether in a save set or scratch set, it is only available to the job associated with...
Howdy,
I have a differential GFS backup with ArcServe2k.
I have one folder on which I would like to run a full backup every night. One option is to run a full backup on all folders each night. Another option is to run two jobs and make sure someone is around to switch tapes between jobs.
Is...
Justin,
MDAC 2.5 SP1 is a good way to go, though 2.6 is up at www.microsoft.com/data/
If you need an older version for compatibility reasons, I would go with 2.1 SP2 (MDAC 2.1.2.4202.3 GA)

Howdy,
From TechNet,
"The term in-process component refers to an application that's running in the same memory space as the calling program. It makes the configuration of the IIS application very important. IIS allows an application to run in its own memory space, restricting application...
Howdy,
Have you checked port 25, or whatever port to which your SMTP is listening? Many ISPs and most default firewall and NAT settings have this port closed to keep your mail server from becoming a SPAM relay.
Try telneting to your mail server on port 25 from a remote client.
If this is the...
Howdy,
If memory serves, there are two places where you need to specify the domain in Win98. I don't access to a Win98 machine here at work, but I think when you open the network properties, there is the identification tab with the machine and workgroup names. You also need to configure the...
Howdy,
In Control Panel, open Scheduled Tasks and double-click Add Scheduled Task.
To update your db you probably want a replication scheme native to whatever server you are running (ie MS SQL, Oracle, etc) and not a process scheduled in Windows. Check the documentation for your db server...
Hmmmm, I dunno about that. Of course it depends on your domain name. If your (network not internet) domain is Company.com then you need to log in to Company.com; however if the domain is Company, you should be logging into Company.
Have you checked 1) the hardware? Are you getting green...
Mike,
When you ping an external address, does the name get resolved to an IP address?
As for your DNS server, make sure you have Root Hints configured in the server properties. These help your internal server resolve external address. You may need to have a port open for DNS in your...
Howdy,
Actually you can use fdisk to remove any NTFS partitions and create new FAT16 or FAT32 paritions. Fdisk is on the Win98 boot floppy. I think Win98 gives you the option to format during install; if not format is on the install CD in the win98 folder.
I've been doing a lot of Win2k/98...
Howdy,
I received an 'E3539 unable to set rotation job backup flag' error. This seems to have only affected the media pool records; the backup was successful, and the tape was renamed correctly. I manually added the tape to the media pool save set.
I'm running ArcServe 2000 SP2 on Win2k...
TJP,
The retention time is a property of the media pool, not the tape.
I have ArcServe 2000 on Win2k, which may be different than on NT. I don't see retention period in the tape properties.
If you're looking at the expiration date, that's the point at which the tape may fail and should be...
Howdy,
One possible cause is you are trying to back up other servers with the workgroup edition. This edition only backs up workstations and the server it is installed on.
If you want to backup servers as clients, you need the advanced edition.
