Low Modem Connect Speed & Dell 8100 Notebook
My first question: Have this modem ever worked or is this a new computer? If it's new and you've never been able to get the speed up even with a new modem, then you're probably looking at a port problem. I'd make them replace it. With regard to the LBA setting. Usually that is in the BIOS. If the IDE is set to autodetect, it should have picked up that your hard drive supported it. Go in and look at the IDE settings for the drive. If it is, it may be related to a known issue with 98 and the LBA setting; I can't...- romangal
