I eventually took AD down on this server, but I was able to get back into the sharepoint before that was done.
I'm pretty sure I had to do 2 things to get the site back.

So I had a SharePoint site running on my 2003 enterprise server. Then I installed Active Directory.
Now if I navigate to the SharePoint site, i get a page that says "Service Unavailable". IIS and SharePoint services are running.
Anyone know what happened?

It's got to be possible.
large organizations with sharepoint don't necessarily install the MOSS on the AD server. it's a resource hog.

I just set up MOSS2007 on a stand alone Windows 2003 Enterprise server box with sql Server 2005.
How do I configure that server to recognize active directory users from another sever so they can have permission to a my sharepoint site?
