Hi
I have written a database which stores PowerPoint OLE obects as file references, and I understand how to add an object into a database in the conventional sense. When creating a new record, I am looking for a function or routine that can (a) open a general file select dialogue and (2) on...
I boot up and the BIOS recognises a hard drive and describes the make under Primary. However it claims not to be able to find a boot record. I have run this disk (windows 2000) on another machine and it boots fine, so it is intact. I have also tried other known good drives with OS's installed...
If you run Fdisk|Partition info will normally show the MBR as a seperate tiny partition. If so, delete the partition and any otherers you may have. You can then reformat the entire disk. When you reinstall the opertaing system, Windows will automatically create a new MBR
I have a simple home workroup set up with one Win Xp and two Win 98 machines. You can view all computers on the network, and Win XP can access shared directories on the '98 machines. However, when I try to access Win Xp from either of the 9x computers, I am prompted for a password to make the...

A interesting reply. You are right in everything you say when it comes to the legal mechanics of business and its ethics. As I said, there aren't many who wouldn't do the same if they had thought of it first. Micosoft has done something quiet remarkarble. They have been instrumental in...

Out of interest, can you write software that is 'almost ' identical to another, and be legal? For example Office 602's word processor looks and feels very much like Word. It even saves by defualt into the Word format. The issue I had with it was it's inability to open heavily formatted Word...
I have a situation here where on boot up, XP doesn't get beyond a Blue screen error. The error message that displays refers to a prvious USB mouse driver that is dodgy. The machine will not start up in safe mode, and setup won't run either! I want to avoid re-formatiing if I can. Thoughts anyone?
The issue here is not Linux is it? It’s the fact that there is no alternative operating system to Windows. It doesn't matter squat what techs like us think about the pros and cons of a better operating system is. What matters is those who will buy it! Microsoft isn’t and never has been a great...
