Just thought I'd post my fix. I had the drive on IDE1 as primary. I moved it to IDE2 as primary. (documentation for drive 'suggests' using IDE2. should say ... works on IDE2 only ) In my case anyway ...- NoidCyber

CD drive missing during bootup
I have just DVD player software installed. It does'nt work thou,, until I do the 'Re-detect' first. (doesnt find drive) I get no errors in ANY Event logs. No system log errors of any kind.- NoidCyber

Installed new DVD/CD drive OK. (recognized and installs fine) LitOn LTC-48161H (combo dvd/cd-rw) But, on re-boot drive is not available. It IS in BIOS. It's NOT in device manager, or windows. I have to re-run the New hardware utility to get it to list in W2K SP4. It doesnt re-install, it just...- NoidCyber
