You can also start a command window and do a 'gpupdate /force'. we have found that sometimes that will refresh the domain policies and will fix weird problems like this.
We used an open source product called system imager. It takes a little bit of work to get it configured correctly, but from then on it works really good. You should be able to find it easily with a google search.
That was the last half of the conversation, the first half was very wierd but standard chat about the product I was looking for...kinda went like this
me: yeah I'm looking for something with this ability, and this special encrypting technology
HP: we have something that can do exactly that...
I was on HP's site today and was researching something for my boss...I clicked on the 'click here to chat with hp' link, and while I was going over my issue I started thinking that I was talking to a robot....a scripted 'support person'
- cue idea from the movie Super Troopers -
<when I...
I had this exact same issue, and I'm guessing that the account you are trying to login with has a blank password. If you set up a password for the user you will be able to login.
I had a problem just like this, and it was the fact that both the original local address book and the shared address book both had the same logical names (not filesystem names). It ended up making the shared address book a replica of my local address book and caused issues. I ended up having to...
I'm not sure if this would work, but you could give it a shot:
You could add the user account from the laptop to the admin group on the PC with the printer installed...I've never tried this with a PC that is in a workgroup, but try to go into local users and groups on the PC to add your laptop...
The only guess that I have is that your IDE cable may be bad. I just ran into a similar situation where I thought my DVD drive was bad (because it was burning with errors, having read errors) but decided to replace the IDE cable anyways...and everything went back to working perfectly. There...
Here are the steps I used to bond/team nics on an Integrity4640 running RH4.0:
1. Create a new ifcfg-bond0 file in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/
DEVICE=bond0
IPADDR=192.168.xxx.xxx
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
BROADCAST=192.168.xxx.xxx
GATEWAY=192.168.x.x
ONBOOT=yes
BOOTPROT=none
USERCTL=no...
My organization recently had to approach this scenario for a 5 node cluster. Our solution was to use the product called SystemImager. You can download the software from http://www.systemimager.org/. It is a free imaging solution for linux.
We used a SAN share to store the images, so that...
The other possibility is that HP installed the restore software on what is called a service partition. Most of our machines were configured that way, where you would hit F11 on boot up (or similar) and it would boot into a separate partition that contains an image you can use to restore your...
In my state government position, we had been paid the rate of $0.29 per mile up until a couple months ago. They raised the rate to $0.35, and that helps, but it still doesn't cover the full range of personal costs of driving my vehicle. We had a large discussion about this in our organization...
Here's one possible problem that is causing the black boxes...this is in reference to an HP model....
description
During normal use, black rectangles may begin to appear in RDP session windows on systems described in the SCOPE. The size, location, and frequency of appearance are random...
I have the exact same problem with a Compaq TS and HP T5700's. I haven't been able to figure out what is causing it yet. I have thin clients that have the problem whether they are over a T1 or whether they are located locally on a lan.
I am wondering if a windows update could have started...
The best way that I can recommend to work your way into a sysadmin job is to do local contracting through an agency. I completed my 2 year degree, then I began getting contracts through the local RHI office. Most companies will want someone to fill in for 2 weeks or so while someone is on...
