Sounds like your problem is a little more severe. We never had any problems with client machines losing connections to servers, since our DHCP records were still correct. We just had problems pinging and connecting via UNC to client machine since DNS was messed up.
Anyway, yes, clearing the PTR...
I think what I'm going to do is just remove all the PTR records from DNS (minus servers) over the weekend. PTR records are updated when the machine restarts (I've tested this twice), so on Monday all machines will update in DNS when they start up. This should make DHCP and DNS sync up. Thanks...
This was not checked, but I have enabled it. Any idea how long it would normally take for this setting to update the PTR records?
Also, the DHCP/DNS server is Windows 2003 Server. Computer A is Windows 2000 Professional.
Having a small problem. While pinging IP addresses in my network, I've noticed conflicting return data. For example, if I ping Computer-A, it will return an IP address. If I then turn around and ping the IP address it returns (ping -a IP) it will return a different computer record.
What I've...

The account was part of the Exchange Services and Exchange Domain Services accounts, but was not a part of the Exchange Enterprise Services. Once this was set the purge option was available.
Thanks for your help.
Is it possible to remove a user's mailbox from Exchange if their active directory account has been deleted? The Exchange Tasks option in Exchange is gone since the AD account no longer exists, so it will not let me remove the mailbox. Is there a way around this, or will I need to restore the AD...
If it comes down to it, we'll most likely just buy another version of 5.5. I just wanted to make sure there was no way Exchnage 2003 could read it before I did so.
I have a slight problem I'm working on. We used to have an Exchange 5.5 server running about 2-3 years ago. Eventually we migrated to Exchange 2000, and now to Exchange 2003. During this time, we sold off our copies of 2000 and 5.5. However, our backups of all the data from this time are still...
It's possible, we do use Exchange 2003. It worked OK with his old laptop though, which would have used the same Exchange profile. I'll check around Exchange 2003 though.
Thanks for the input. I do know about this method, and yes, it does work. However, the user does not want to have to fill in multiple fields when entering numbers, he just wants to type in the 10 digit number and have it formatted automatically.
I know this is possible, because in my own...
Recently I purchased a new laptop for a user which came with Outlook 2003. This user had been using 2003 before this laptop, so he was used to some of it's features. In his old version of Outlook, when he would add a phone number to a contact, Outlook would automatically format the number with...
disord3r - Thanks, I think that may help. Just curious, what did you search for? I looked around gogle for about 20 minutes this morning and didn't see that article.
