I'm using v7 single seat Pro and my auto updates update everything. It only offers coices on a manual update.

Who makes the bios? Different vendors, different codes, Award, from memory, uses this for memory problems.

The main difference is enhanced functionality in pay versions. The free one is single PC only and has limited functions, however scanning engine is the same!

This is what was sent to me from Grisoft tech support when I had this problem (7.0 Pro).
Run AVG Control Center -> select Update Manager component -> Settings. Set Proxy, Dial-Up tabs (according to the connection type) and URL tab (a default settings is: http://www.grisoft.cz/softw/70/update)...
Use the maual update from the control centre, it will ask for the source. There is a check box on the pop up "Do not ask for the update source next time", try that one. I use 7 Pro and have experience with free and network versions.

Celeron 2.4 on MSI 7500 (SIS650 chipset) 256 mb ram, fx5200 agp.XP SP2
Have had probs with infinite loop, turned off all hardware accelerations, no more crashes, no performance. Using Dr Hardware 2005, I can see my card but agp slot shows as empty!? Infinite loop occurs with onboard video too...
