try www.computer-recovery.com or www.zienex.com if all fails they apparantly deal with this type of thing as they know all about fujitsu drives with similar problems
It sounds as though the disk is on its last legs. the clicking is for certain because you trying to access damaged part of disk. I am afraid the suggestion above may kill the drive completely. you may have to try a data recovery company, try www.computer-recovery.com or www.zienex.com both from...

Hmmm i would of thought a burn out of the electronics. You might have some luck with a replacement. but there is probably other failures. take care if you attempt that.
try www.zienex.com or www.computer-recovery.com they are both very good at recovering data.
Sounds like an odd problem, i think the catalogue has been altered, probably needs the likes of a specialist, if you want you data back, but do not write anything to the disk. Try www.computer-recovery.com they are very good at data recovery.
It may be that the drive has failed and has a hardware fault if it does not appear on the bios or that the file system has become corrupt normally the partition but there are other areas that can cause the same errors.

try www.computer-recovery.com they are good at recovering data from this sort of thing.
The drive may have developed physical errors on the Boot code or other OS critical areas. If the data is important avoid powering the drive as this may worsen the problem.
Try www.computer-recovery.com who should be able to help.
hoani
There could be numerous reasons, i have suggested the most common reasons. The profesionals would know what really is at fault and would no doubt asses it in a controlled environment to get the best results.
I would say if the data is on a partition further up the disk and is important...
Another drive that suffers the typical head failure. Normally keeps ticking and slowly destrying the data completely.
Try www.computer-recovery.com if there is data that you really need back.
