    changing storage nodes

Connecting the storage node to the networker server through the firewall? How many ports did you have to open? I know if you just backup through one is a WHOLE lot, is the storage node idea the way to not have to open as many ports?

    System States and Registries

We finally ran into an issue where a server died and the owner did not want to wipe the server clean and put a new image on. They wanted to restore everything. We had been doing an "ALL" saveset. What is the proper method for doing this? We were using 6.1.3 with a 6.2 client at the time...

    NDMP Directed Recovery

does the -R indicate a directed recover? We do ndmp recoveries and put them in different locations on our celerra filesytem using the -m command for saveset recoveries from the command line. The gui works too if you have the patch that fixes a bug they were having. My command looks like this...

Exchange 2003 / Storage Node / Lanless backups over San

Ok guys and girls. Setting up Exchange 2003 and want to use DDS to back it up over the SAN. It's a Win2k server. What software do I need to install to get the Exchange Module and Storage node software? I am thinking: Exchange Module 4.0 Networker Client 6.2 Do I have to install both???

Lanless Backups and MetaData Traffic Ports

We are trying to test lanless backups (data from san) from our test lab. It is completely closed off from the production network but we do not have a legato solution in the test lab so we have to connect to the production server. The data will be traveling across the SAN, so which ports would...

    NDMP Client Indexes

I know the index has to be stored on the networker server, via tape or a filetype device. Am I wrong in thinking that normal indexes go into the /nsr/index path? And if so, are NDMP indexes done differently to make them so large? I did NDMP backups of our Celerra for about 30 days and the...

NT Cluster and Permission Denied error

Below is the result of the probe. I guess this will answer the "where" question. ************************************* ************************************* ************************************* wilolbsqlg:D:\mssql\backup level=incr wilolbsqlg:E:\...

    NDMP Backups and DDS

605, thank you very much for your reply but I am not sure I completely understand. I can configure NDMP to backup the filesystem on the Celerra DART Datamover when I set up the datamover as a storage node. I used Legato docs to do it exactly how they specified. There is no tape driver on the...

NT Cluster and Permission Denied error

The virtual node of my NT Cluster is failing with a permission denied. I have several other clusters that are setup the exact same way, and they work fine. Usually I think permission denied equals servers file issue, but a virtual node doesnt get a servers file. The two physical nodes of the...

    NDMP and LEVEL BACKUPS

The way I understand it, with NDMP you cannot do an incremental backup by setting the backup to incremental. The only way to do it is to get level backups. All of our rotations now are a full one day of the week and incrementals the rest. Could someone who has worked it before give me a 7 day...

connection refused and no such file or directory

I am having the same issue. Usually a HOSTS file issue or services not started issue. Not this time, HOSTS file is fine and services are running. I am looking forward to someone giving you a helpful answer also. Maybe together we can get the chair closer! HA

    NDMP Backups

When using networker to run an NDMP backup, backing up a Celerra filesystem, while the backup is running, is the filesystem unavailable?

    Restoring a Single Registry Key

If that is the only way to do it, I guess that is what I'll have to do. I was hoping there was a shortcut around.

    NDMP Backups and DDS

Right now we are doing a backup with the EMC Celerra datamover as a storage node using NDMP. We are using Networker 6.1.3 on a Solaris box. We have an L40 connected directly to the datamover with 2 DLT8000 drives in it. We are getting write speeds up to 8mb a sec. We are putting 9940b drives...

    Restoring a Single Registry Key

Do you mean not possible or not necessary? It is very necessary as there are changes in the registry that they do not want overwritten with old reg settings. There is one key that keeps track of windows shares and I need a way to get that one key.
