What kind of router? I had a similar problem trying to mix a netgear adapter and a d-link router. I finally got a d-link adapter and all was good.

When it's set up like that, you can look at your power button as a shortcut to the start -> shutdown process. It is still a good idea to close all programs first.

I would download and run Hijack This, you can get it here: http://209.133.47.12/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe . Just be careful not to remove anything you arent sure of. You can also post your results so others can tell you what's safe to remove.

It is trying to connect with the IP address, and that works fine from home when not behind a router.
