Hi David, thanks for the response
I contacted the tape drive manufacturer, Quantum, and it was sorted out pretty quick. I had been using SCSI ID 8 for the drive, and was advised to use ID 6 instead. Since then the drive throughput has been consistently over 800MB per sec.
I upgraded from 11.1 to 12 without a problem. I checked the documentation before upgrading and made sure this was an available option. The upgrade went without a hitch. The database was converted, all job logs were imported, and the whole process was over in less than 40 minutes (on a dual core...
Hello, David
Many thanks for the answer. It's a relief knowing that I can simply add the option to backup the database to the GFS job. I'm using SQL Express, so I expect that simply reinstalling ArcServe then restoring the database if required will be sufficient.
Enjoy your weekend!
Cheers!
When you modify the job, can you not see these files listed? When I remove folders/files I often forget to modify the job and Arcserve will report that the backup is incomplete the next time the job runs. Modifying the job and de-selecting the files fixes it.
Hi
I recently installed an external Quantum LTO3 drive. The drive appears to be working fine, but in the time we have had it (less than 2 weeks), throughput has varied.
Normal backup operations take 6.5 hrs to backup 315GB of data. Twice this has dropped to 13hrs. Checking the logs, the...
Hi Folks
I have just upgraded our installation of Arcserve from 11.1 to 12.
Everything is working fine but I am a little confused about the database protection job (DPJ). I don't understand why the job needs its own media. From what I have read, the DPJ backs up essential elements of the sql...
Hi, David
Thank you for that. If we need to restore data then I will remove the LTO and connect the DAT72 in its place as there is just one controller in the server.
Thanks again.
Cheers!
Mark
Have you used the Merge function to add the database to Arcserve? Once you have done this you should be able to view the session status and query the database for specific files/folders.
Hi Folks
I am preparing to upgrade from Arcserve 11.1 to 12.5.
I have been using a DAT72 drive on our server but have purchased a Quantum LTO3 to use for future backups after the upgrade. I have done this because the number of DAT72 tapes used has reached 8 for a full backup and it takes 24hrs...
That's a great link, thanks very much for the information.
It is to assist a member of staff who has a genuine memory problem. They need to be able to see the files they have opened so that they can fill out a timesheet (all our files are named according to project). At present, filling out a...
Thanks for the reply
I would like to install it on a Windows XP PC, hence the post here. I would like to monitor which documents are opened on the XP PC. I am not interested in remotely monitoring a PC. All monitoring will be local.
Oh, man! Thanks very much indeed. Why did I not try to copy the cell?????
That is the solution. I can't believe that I've spent so long doing it incorrectly.
You each have my gratitude.
Waiter! Get these people a drink :)
That has the same result.
What I want to do is copy the line, select a cell, paste it in the cell, select the next cell paste it etc etc.
I have to link numbers together thus:

Pasting the lines is the easiest way to do it.
