It loks like the ip address should work. Cisco is using IOS version 12.3 and it never hurts to upgrade unless your equipment/components doesn't support the new IOS.
Try the command "sh run" and see if you have an ip address for the ethernet card already in use.
Or try another ip address.

I have tried on two seperate computers. A laptop with a single nic and a desktop with dual nics.
Both masks were changed at the same time.
I am using a crossover cable when directly connected to the router.
I just changed all the ip addresses to have the subnet mask to 255.255.0.0 to fit the 172.25.1.47 of the router and 172.25.1.69 for the computer

There are no control lists setup and then I am switching back and forth from router to pc and router to switch to pc.
