    I bought a new Toshiba laptop with a copy of WinXP preinstalled earlier this year. I've decided I want a full format and a reinstall of Windows, my laptop wasnt supplied with a WinXP CD. Can I install from another copy of WinXP I bought and installed on another PC? Will I be able to activate?

    The IEEE 1394 Connection is shown as active on both machines, I know there's some activity though through both machines having exchanged some bytes in the status window. Theres no icon for the connection in the task tray. I tried bridging the connections with ethernet connections and a bubble...

    Thanks for the link but I'm still in the dark, the two pc's are connected, I've set the files I want to share, I still can't figure it out.

    I read with interest the thread about removing the IEEE 1394 bridge to enable a network. My question is how do I set up a direct firewire connection between two PC's? I have the machines connected, same workgroups, users etc. I've been having trouble with this one for a while.
