We have been testing this in our test lab and have decided not to proceed into production. We have SUN Solaris as the master server Veritas NetBackup 5.1 and have ran into sooooo many problems that Veritas support cannot get resolved. Note: In calling Veritas we have never been able to get a...
According to the documentation:
Drive Use History
Shows a graph of relative drive usage. The data for the graph is obtained from the Windows performance monitor. The graph is shown only if the following are true:
The drive is connected to a Windows media server (or SAN media server).

You can try updating the master server host properties for "Restore Failover" (this is on NetBackup 5.1) i believe that it was labeld differently in earlier versions. It more or less says that any restores coming in for "server1" should now point to "server2". We use this when we are...
You should be able to do the bpmedia -freeze command, and then when you are sure that you are done with the tape don't forget to do the bpmedia -unfreeze
Is the destination client name typed in exactly like the client name when it was backed up. We have in the past ran across where the names did not match, for example: for the backups the server client name is SERVER1, if you type in server1 for the destination client, NetBackup will spit out...
I have an internal disk drive on an Alphaserver running OpenVMS 7.3. Last week, the system stopped recoginizing the drive when I was out of town. I still see the other two internal drives. Is there a way to have the system rescan for hardware? Any suggestions on how to get this drive back...
The load balancing issue has been resolved. Our Network guys, enabled the Cisco Express Forwarding option on the switch/router and we were finally able to perform a full backup on the remote server.
Thanks.
Has anyone had any problems with Netbackup and network load balancing? We have a remote site that the backups are ending with a status 14. We have done extensive troubleshooting on the server and network connectivity. We found out today that the network link is load balanced, active active...
Okay, now the cummulative incremental is receiving status code 14...job ran for 6 1/2 minutes and cancelled with a 14. Double checked the server and the NIC card is set at 100/Full. Any ideas??
We have already done this, our network guys have verified that the switch is set to 100/full. One thing that I have found out, OTM was installed and at one time enabled on this server. I went ahead and uninstalled and installed Veritas back on it (just did this today). I am scheduling a full...
I am having problems with FULL backups for a remote site. The remote site is connected with a T1, and we are backing up the remote server to defined disk storage. Cummulative backups are working fine. The full backup will run anywhere from 5 minutes to 7 hours before failing with a status 14 -...
We have been using NetBackup for over 3 years (came from ArcServe) and have been satisfied with the product. The one thing that I would recommend is that if you do go with NetBackup have Veritas come in and assist in getting it installed, also for the people that are going to be supporting it...
As far as I know there is no free training provided by Veritas for NetBackup. What we ended up doing was sending our backup administrators to both the 3 and 5 day training, and then came back and trained the operators on their duties. Our operators are limited to what they can do. Their main...
Okay, so I was having a real bad day... it turned out to be real simple. We have a cluster environment and we are in the daylight savings time zone. I had the first node set up to automatically reset the time, but not the second node. Once I reset the time for the cluster the command to...
