I am new to QOS and want to configure switches properly for my implementation. I am installing a Shoretel phone system and am planning on segmenting a Voice VLAN with the "voice" option enabled. I'm not sure if it's priority 6 or 7, as the setting or if it even matters. I understand 802.1p is...
OK I've recently been asked to change our server names (long story that gets my blood boiling). Anyways, what they're really after is accessing shares via UNC using more familiar names. I figure instead of going through renaming machines, I would rather use CNAMEs instead and make my life a...
Let me preface by saying that I am not a phone guy at all and I'm not going to pretend either. So my specific issue is that we have added an option 11 at a new branch location and are unsure how to remotely manage it. Our option 11 at our main branch is totally segmented from our LAN on it's...
OK, I ran adprep /forestprep from the R2 #2 CD. It ran fine without any errors. I took from Pat's last post that if I ran it on the schema master that the other domain controller (Windows Server 2003 non-R2) would include those schema changes and bring it up to level 31. I have waited a...
Thank you both for helping. Reading both of your responses here is where I'm at. I ran a NETDOM QUERY FSMO and here are the results:
Schema owner Server 2000
Domain role owner Server 2000
PDC role Server 2000
RID pool manager Server...
Thanks for the quick reply. It seems that I read somewhere that R2 has to make schema updates to Active Directory. Since R2 is on a new server and I'm not removing or upgrading the existing servers that are Server 2000 and Server 2003 w/Exchange 03. I figured that I would have to run...
I would like to know what steps are needed in order to get R2 in an existing domain that includes Server 2000 and Server 2003 running Exchange 03/SP2. Do I need to run forestprep and domainprep on both the Server 2000 and Server 2003? What must I do to get R2 ready for the Exchange schema...
Thanks for the reply. I ended up figuring it out. For some reason the service account password changed. I changed the password and then went through each service and selected the service account and manually typed in the password for each. Fixed it. Weird. Anyways thanks for the help.

I was having problems with Exchange being sluggish so I decided to run the optimizer. I remember running it in the past with no ill affects. Anyways after running none of the exchange services will start now. Does anyone have a clue?

Actually, I thought you were supposed to enable circular logging to flush all logs up until the checkpoint log. Anyways I figured out that I forget to select flush committed logs in my backup software. Just one of those little things that can cause big headaches. I appreciate the help.

My Exchange server has stopped and it looks as though the MDBData Logs are the cause. They have completely used up all available disk space and the services have stopped. If anyone is good with this please respond.
thanks

Hi all,
I have a problem that is driving me insane! I have two regional sales mgrs. that both have broadband accounts with Roadrunner. When they send mail to my mail server they get the can't relay error. They have not had this problem up until about a week ago. These are the only two...
