verbal11, I can now tell you with certainty that a reformatted harddrive and complete re-install fixes the problem! :) I'm guessing it is something fairly simple and probably has something to do with a wayward driver that affects tcp/ip or other communications hardware... just guessing...
I have been experiencing the same thing. My error messages are the same. My situation is somewhat different though. I have DirecPC (no at all an endorsement!) which I uninstalled the software because of a driver problem within the program... I kept getting an error saying a driver was not...
