I tried the disk backup solution from legato and the results were much the same due to the CPU limitation on the NAS (Compaq B2000 with a DL380 dual proc 1.2 ghz head). I created a 100 GB advanced file system device and the throughput stayed much the same. We're going to migrate to a SAN...
My issue is I have around 40 million small tiff files on our production NAS server. It totals to around 4.4 terabytes. The backup using Networker 7.2 and an IBM 3583 library with an IBM 3580 LTO3 tape drive takes around 40 hours for a full backup.
I'm pretty sure this is due to the millions...
OK, turns out there are 2 different tape drives in the box. It shipped with the SDLT in the Tape 0 position. Later the previous admin added another tape device that is an SDLT320. The sdlt originally in it only used 110/220 tapes. Hence read/write errors with the 160/320's. Thanks for the help.
I used jbedit to remove the tape device and the database entries (required if you want to re-add the device with different parms). Then I added a "new" tape device using jbedit and set the media type to sdlt320. Didn't help. Got the same error messages. Plus the drive is now exhibiting...

Networker will successfully write to...
Well, according to MS what was happening on the reboot was that SQL server was rolling back all of the transactions from my sql job. It also turns out some of the developers made a little mistake and instead of inserting 1 million rows they inserted 54 million.
To fix, stop sql server
go to...
Our SQL server crashed for an unknown reason, we have a suspect, but my question is. When the server was rebooted the databases started to automatically recover. It is taking way to long to recover and we'd like to just stop and bring up the service with the database as suspect and restore...
I have 2 jobs that connect to an AS400/DB2 database and fetches some data to place into a MS SQL server 2000 database.
The jobs are failing intermittenly ( jobs time out after 3 retries, takes about 45 mins.)
When I right click on the linked server->tables icon in Enterprise manager I get the...
