Can windows messeger popup stop my internet connetion

sounds like DNS on the router and/or PC's to me. Can you ping an IP address out from your home PC rather than pinging a URL? So pinging www.google.com will fail but does pinging 216.239.59.99 work? Also, can you ping the LAN address of your router - i.e. your default gateway? You can find...

    DHCP Query

Hi, You could give the machine a reservation from within DHCP snapin in order for it to always have the same config. Or just give it a static IP? Torro

RDP to Small Business Server 2003

Thanks - unfortunately I had already unchecked that box (Desktop Background) The problem is, I have set the background on the remote machine to 'none' = plain blue. But the 'splash screen' still loads on initial connection up to the point of login. Once logged in, the background is plain blue...

    Remote Admin

Hey JMCG, There are no CAL's associated with Exchange System Manager so you can do as many as you like! You can do this on all of your Domain Controllers; it will give all of your DCs access to the Exchange tabs. Torro Come on England!! Oh no, we're out already. :-(

    Remote Admin

Hi, You need to install exchange sytem manager on the machine to see the exchange admin tabs. By default it is installed on the exchange server. Insert the Exchange 2003 CD, follow the onscreen setup, when it gets to the part about "typical" or "custom", do "Custom", then deselect everything...

RDP to Small Business Server 2003

Hi, I have forwarded port 3389 from the firewall to the LAN IP of my server and can now RDP in from anywhere. HOWEVER, it is a Dell server (!) - and the Dell splash screen loads. It takes ages to load all the graphics until the logon is available - after login it runs nice and fast. My...

Hi, I have a new client - they are running SBS2003 but the companyweb and OWA will not run - any attempt to run them (internally) and you just get an IE page saying "SERVICE UNAVAILABLE" - the error makes no reference to 503 Does anyone have any ideas? All the relevant services are started...

OWA works on LAN but not on WAN

Hi Zelandakh, Thanks for that - it is a CyberGuard. The traffic is forwarded to 192.168.100.1 and the cyberguard allows you to set that resolution internally. I am stumped. :-(

OWA works on LAN but not on WAN

Hi, No, I do want the Exchange 2000 forum - sorry if I was unclear. The usual "page cannot be displayed" is the error when connecting from the WAN. The firewall has a rule to forward all incoming port 80 Internet traffic to \\servername and does not show any record of blocking. As it was...

OWA works on LAN but not on WAN

Hi, Skipped 2000 in my career - went straight from 5.5 to 2003 so hoping for help. OWA was working from WAN and LAN but now only from LAN. No firewall changes have been made and the incoming rule still points requests to mail server. Am not sure where to start looking - all services are...

    Reverse DNS Lookup (PTR Creation)

Thanks - for the outbound security - does that need to be set only at the Routing Group\First Routing Group\Connectors\SMTP Relay Properties ONLY OR should the authentication also be set at Servername\Protocols\Default SMTP VS Properties. I know (from my ISP) that I have to use authentication...
