I am using OS 8.1 I am sure it has something to do with the server network because I can see and hear the server working while the G3 is locked up. Also I have noted that it happens every 30 min. for a duration of 2 min.

Thankyou for the tip, but the TCP/IP is not in use.  I'm afraid to admit that I don't know what a spanning tree is or how to check it.  If you wouldn't mind helping me out in that area I might just find the problem.  And Yes, i am on a network using telephone style...
