Thanks guys, the serial connection with a NT machine worked like a charm. I should have thought of this, but I guess my memory was corrupted with frustration.
Thanks again.
Thank you for the responses.
The ACU sees the integrated raid controller on the node, but not the CR3500 raid controllers on the shared storage. The information that I have found states that the CR3500 controllers will not be detected by the ACU, just the integrated controllers.

I have acquired a compaq CL380 and am attempting to configure and install CentOS 5. I have used smartsart 5.5 to configure node 1 and the integrated array. I have not been able to figure out how to configure the shared storage array. The CR3500 array configuration tools that I have found only...
Have you tried using floppy disks made with the Smartstart 5.5 CD? I have 3 proliant 3000's one ran of the 5.5 cd with no problem. One would not run off the 5.5 or 4.8 . I made floppies with the 5.5 cd and the install went ok. I do not know what the difference is, or if there is some hardware...
You should be able to configure with the diskettes. You may have a corrupt file or problem with the floppy file in question. I sent an Im with the info to download the Smartstart 4.8 .

I am not sure about that particular error message, but I know the system will be dead in the water until it is configured. You can always download the server diagnostics and run it http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/18396.html
You are not going to get any further until you get the smartstart and configure the system. This information is read during the boot process. Without it the computer does not know what hardware etc it has. Cannot find harddrives etc. I do not know if smartstart 4.3 will work, it did not work...
