Compaq CL380 and CentOS 5 install

Thanks guys, the serial connection with a NT machine worked like a charm. I should have thought of this, but I guess my memory was corrupted with frustration. Thanks again.

Compaq CL380 and CentOS 5 install

Thank you for the responses. The ACU sees the integrated raid controller on the node, but not the CR3500 raid controllers on the shared storage. The information that I have found states that the CR3500 controllers will not be detected by the ACU, just the integrated controllers. There is a...

Compaq CL380 and CentOS 5 install

I have acquired a compaq CL380 and am attempting to configure and install CentOS 5. I have used smartsart 5.5 to configure node 1 and the integrated array. I have not been able to figure out how to configure the shared storage array. The CR3500 array configuration tools that I have found only...

    Setting up old prolient Servers

Have you tried using floppy disks made with the Smartstart 5.5 CD? I have 3 proliant 3000's one ran of the 5.5 cd with no problem. One would not run off the 5.5 or 4.8 . I made floppies with the 5.5 cd and the install went ok. I do not know what the difference is, or if there is some hardware...

Compaq Proliant 3000 and Fedora Core 4

You should be able to configure with the diskettes. You may have a corrupt file or problem with the floppy file in question. I sent an Im with the info to download the Smartstart 4.8 .

Compaq Proliant 3000 and Fedora Core 4

I have played around with linux for a few years. Fedora Core 4 was a pretty easy install. When installing the boot loader, select the advanced options. If not, the default installation will be to install the boot loader to the mbr and you want to select the boot partition instead. If it...

Compaq Proliant 3000 and Fedora Core 4

Here is a post on the meaning of the post errors for compaq computers. I am not sure that the array card is bad, it may just need the rom flashed. http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/compaq/faq/comppost.htm

Compaq Proliant 3000 and Fedora Core 4

It is my understanding that the bios information is stored on the harddrive when you do the system configuration. When you did the system erase, you erased that information also. I am using redhat enterprise linux as an operating system on one 3000, and Fedora Core 4 on another.

Compaq Proliant 3000 and Fedora Core 4

I am not sure about that particular error message, but I know the system will be dead in the water until it is configured. You can always download the server diagnostics and run it http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/18396.html

Compaq Proliant 3000 and Fedora Core 4

You are not going to get any further until you get the smartstart and configure the system. This information is read during the boot process. Without it the computer does not know what hardware etc it has. Cannot find harddrives etc. I do not know if smartstart 4.3 will work, it did not work...

Compaq Proliant 3000 and Fedora Core 4

I have a couple of proliant 3000 that I have installed Fedora Core 4 on. One is a dual pII 333, and the other is a PIII 550. The smp kernel in linux will not recognize either as a dual processor machine. Both units were set up with smartstart 5.5. Any ideas would surely be appreciated. Thanks
