It turns out that the ctrl and alt on one side of the keyboard don't work but the other side does. Can't have partialy functional equipment so I replaced the keyboard. THANX ALL

I can see where that would be true. and I wish that it was that easy. but alas it's not. the computer has not crashed in some time and when it boots it is seeing the legacy keyboard. and all of the keys are functioning. ie.. (alt + tab) (ctrl+a) (alt + right arrow) etc etc.

I'm working on a gateway 400 mghz pentium II with 190mb of ram and for some reason ctrl alt del no longer works (win98se) does anyone know why?

no and yes I'm not getting any error messages. and there is nothing in the event viewer. the program(telemagic ver4.5.6) will load sometimes but it takes like ten minutes. I know its not a ram thing because one of the other workstations is identical in every way. It is the furhterest away...

we r currently running winntver4 servpack 6 8 workstations using win98se. on one of the workstations I'm unable to start programs that are on the shared drive. its the only station that i have the problem with. and the network settings are the same. any help would be greatly appreaciated if...

I've just went two days without losing the server. first i updated the network card drivers. started to acquire the bios drivers to update them. called a tm reseller and he had had the same problem. he said reboot the hub and swithches. I did and havent had the problem since. (knock on wood)...

Sorry i took so long to respond. This work stuff keeps getting in the way:>) I updated the drivers for the eithernet adapter (dfe-530tx) and i thought that might have done it i did on friday morning didnt have any problems for the rest of the day. but it happened again about half an hour ago...

I think the tape backup is using comm 1 (it says scsi port 1 not sure if thats the same thing) when i go to reboot the server seems fine. i installed the service pak about a week ago. but the problem was occuring before and since then i am makeing a emergency disk at this moment. thanx again
