Thanks Everyone I had DNS on the clients pointing at the Smoothwall Server instead of the windows 2000 server - when I fixed that and updated DNS I could ping everything. (I manually added Smoothwall). One of my clients is still not showing up in the DNS (don't know why) but everything now...
