Be sure you do not have circular logging enabled on the Information store you are trying to back up. If you have circular logging enabled, Exchange will delete old transaction logs that have been committed, whether they've been backed up or not.
You should disable circular logging on the...
I have Backup Exec 9.1 configured to use an Exchange agent to back up our Exchange 2003 server. We perform a full backup on Monday at 6PM and then perform Incremental backups from Midnight Tuesday all the way to Sunday every six hours.
Today I saw this in the Job Log for our 6AM Incremental...
The thing to remember is that that's what DFS is FOR. If you don't want to use DFS, you are waiving your right to move shares without having to change the UNC path. That's sort of the point of having DFS.
You can't reasonably expect to be able to move a share to an entirely new server...
You could use XCOPY. I don't though because of the amount of data we're mirroring.
In our company, we presently have 5 active directory sites, one of which is our headquarters and NOC. We only have 256k connections via WAN from the NOC to those locations. Because offsite backup and share...
We presently have an active directory forest with two domain trees:
Forest's DNS Name: forest.
Forest's NetBIOS Name: FOREST
Domain Trees:
DNS Name: corporation1.com.
NetBIOS Name: CORP1
DNS Name: corporation2.com.
NetBIOS Name: CORP2
Before you say anything, our internal DNS namespace is...
NetBIOS and WINS are not required for file and print sharing, however, there are applications written by vendors who still think it's 1995 that require NetBIOS -- for example, even the latest version of Symantec Antivirus for Exchange will not "discover" AVF/Exchange servers via DNS...
I have several public contact folders used throughout our Exchange organization. Every day, without fail, some contacts end up getting deleted that are not being deleted by end users. When you pull up "Recover Deleted Items" they are there, and most of them have next to them the name...
We have our MX host (mxhost.domain.com) located within our DMZ. We also have an internal email distribution server (int-mailhost.domain.com) on our internal lan with several Exchange servers holding mailboxes for end users. We are also hosting email for several domains.
This is what I would...
There is a sample application "Enterprise Calendar" on the Slipstick website.
http://www.slipstick.com/calendar/scheduleall.htm
On that page, look for "Enterprise Calendar." There is an Exchange 5.5 and Exchange 2000 version. This is sample code, but it appears to be...
I'm running into a problem running NTBACKUP. I have configured NTBACKUP to backup the system state data of our Windows 2000 domain controller. I've configured it to save the bkf file to a UNC path (\\path\to\dfs\share\nt0.bkf). The initial backup runs fine. I've configured the backup to run...
The problem suddenly resolved itself about 30 minutes after I posted the message, but I'm still curious as to the cause. The PST file was fresh -- and the problem was happening in Outlook Express as well (no PST). Very strange that the problem persisted solid for 2 weeks and then suddenly...
Have you resolved this issue? I have VBA code that imports an Outlook contact form with custom fields into a Microsoft Access table -- this should also work for other item types in Outlook. Craig J Matthews

Hello -- I am currently having this problem in both Outlook and Outlook Express just as you and I was wondering if you ever found a way to fix it?
Thanks!

I remain convinced that every locked down Windows 2000 workstation where the end user does not have administrative rights, yet applications are still able to run, do not exist, and that system administrators the world over are lying about regular users being able to run most apps.

Since DFS is site aware, as long as the client machines are also site aware (any Windows client that speaks 'active directory'), then they will always try to connect to the closest copy of a domain dfs replicant.
