The program is called Sonar 2.0, it is made by a company called Cakewalk

It seems that I goofed on the previous post, the MIDI driver isn't under Legacy Audio Drivers, it's under my C-Media AC97 Audio Device.
I haven't tried to install any files yet. The audio drivers...
Ok, well, I've answered my own question on the Midi yoke... it's just a connector.
Now, I just realized that my MIDI driver is hidden under the Legacy Audio Drivers in the Drivers Manager, it's not an independent thing under Sound, Video, and Game drivers.. I'm guessing this might be why my...
That's exactly it, many thanks.
Now to find a driver that works.
Can I use MIDI Yoke like a normal driver, or is it only a connector and nothing else? I'm not quite clear on what it is.
I am running Windows XP Pro, and I'm having a conflict with a certain program that needs to play MIDIs. For some reason, the program isn't detecting my current driver, although it is detecting an MPU401 and a Microsoft MIDI mapper. Neither of those seems to produce any sound.
Other programs...
Hey guys, for some reason yahoo just sent 5 notification emails to my inbox saying that this thread had been posted to... so yeah, I had no clue people had actually replied to this.
Thanks for the suggestions, I don't think it's windows media player, since the same thing is happening with...
wow, thanks for all the help. I'll try your suggestions asap. The only one I can kinda rule out right now is the spybot suggestion since I already have it.
Thanks again everyone.
Right click on the desktop in your brother's account and go to properties. Select the screen saver tab, and along with the screen saver selection you should see a checkbox that says "Display welcome screen when returning" or something like that. That'll make it so that when the...
Hmm... I can't find an XP home forum. Is it just me?
My problem is rather weird. Usually I'm pretty good at determining where my problems lie with the comp, but this one has me totally stumped. It might even be various separate problems for all I know.
Running: Windows XP SP1
P4 @ 2.4ghz...
Hmm, I will try the dxdiag and reinstalling the codecs today. As for the drivers, yeah, I have the latest. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll try to find an older version of wmp.
thx everyone
Well, I'm not sure what forum this belongs in, but I'm trying here.
I'm running windows XP home, 256bm ddram, and trying to play a some video files. 100-200mb in size, .avi divx stuff. I'm using windows media player.
Everything was working fine for the first couple of days, but today...

I had a similar problem just two days ago actually... From your initial description, it seems to be the exact same thing even. My problem was a bad stick of ram...
Hmm, thanks for all the input guys, but it turned out to be the memory after all. I took out the 256mb DDR and put in some old SDRAM... running winxp at 96mb SDRAM is soooo slow. Oh well, I just have to wait until tuesday and go and bitch until they give me a new ram chip. thx again.
Ok, I've recently purchased a new system, which I'm using with drives from my old system, so first, I'll sum up what I have:
socket a mainboard k7som+ motherboard (new)
integrated AMD duron 1800
300w power supply (new)
256MB DDRAM (new)
4.5gb HD (old)
2gb HD (old)
floppy, CDRW (old)
btw...
cool, thanks a lot. So, short of the new power source, it doesn't look like I missed anything as far as what I'll have to buy.
As far as OS, I'd be saying bye bye to Win98 in favour of XP anyway.
I will look around for prices and such, but I think that even with throwing the PS in there, 300...
