    Internet access problems (networked)

Thanks to all of you who helped with your replies. I changed the scope of the dhcp on the server and disabled the one on the router. That seemed to be creating a big conflict. Another weirdity was that the switch had a bad connection or something where it kept flickering on and off. Once that...

    Internet access problems (networked)

wdoellefeld, Thank you for your response... "Sounds like the default gateway in the DHCP settings on the server is wrong. Or the scope has run out of IPs. IS this a domain or workgroup?" It is a domain. Should the DHCP settings on the server be the same or different than that of the router?

    Internet access problems (networked)

I did already try disabling DHCP on the router and NOBODY could go online!! Grrr. As for the IP pools, I didn't check the one on the server, but the DHCP on the router is 10-30. (Dot sure how to check the server...) Thanks, Judy

    Internet access problems (networked)

Something very weird is happening with our network. When our tech first set it up, everyone (who was supposed to) had internet access. Now, it is funky from one day to the next. For example, today, only the users who have access to our payroll program can access the internet. (yesterday nobody...

    McAfee & Microsoft pages inaccessible...

I had a problem accessing WUpdate and mcafee sites too with one of our computers at work. It was driving me crazy. Finally, ran msconfig and disabled all the mcafee files (I think it was the instant updater at fault) from loading at startup and BINGO! - immediate access to wupdate and mcafee...

internet monitoring software recommendations for very small office

I am looking for similar software. We used to have Sygate Office Network, which did a great job of activity logging and reporting. Maybe this will work for you -- although we were on dial-up and W98, and now we're on broadband DSL and W2000. So...I don't even know if we can use sygate any...

    Error on w98se update - 0X800B0004

When I go to windows udpate on one of our pc/s, the screen says it is checking for latest version...then it says "windows update software did not update successfully. Below are some suggestions..." It mentions accepting the trust certificate, checking IE security settings and a few other items...

    Network slowing to a crawl!

Thought I'd let you all know what the problem turned out to be -- a bad hub. That was actually our first thought, but initial tests of switching cables around failed to identify that - the reason was that the cables were MIS-LABELED...ask me how I know...(sheepish grin) Naturally, switching...

    Network slowing to a crawl!

Well, there are many suggestions here - thank you to all...you're the best! I believe I will try the process of elimination...and so far, there are two computers that whiz into the shared files and two that do not (mine is one of them)! grrr Also will try the cable thingie last mentioned. Time...

    Network slowing to a crawl!

Thanks, rockerfellerz. Each computer is set up to automatically virus scan on startup, but I have not heard of the adaware...will try that. Actually, the "server" is just another computer on the network where all the files are shared, BUT it does have more memory, larger drive, etc...

    Network slowing to a crawl!

I hope someone can help me. We have a LAN (W98 se) at work - ten users in all on a peer-to-peer network. Over the last month, the network has slowed down to a crawl. If only one or two people are on, it is not too bad, but it can take as long as a minute to open a file. I don’t understand it...

Modem crash, 0028:C00CB3E0 in VxD VDD (01)

Arrrgh...I am the host modem for several other computers on our LAN, with a dial-up connection. Sometimes (and some days more than others) when either I initiate a dial-up or another computer does (or even sometimes in the middle of an internet session), my computer gives me the blue screen of...

    Which computer is dialing up?

We have a peer to peer Windows 98 network with about 7 computers on it. My computer is the "hub" for the internet access (we use a dialup modem which is on my computer)- though it is not the Server. Whenever someone on the network wants to go online, they click on their internet...

Non-Epson Inks for Epson 880 Printer

We ordered some non-epson ink from a local dealer (southern california) for work after agonizing about ruining the printers! Well, it didn't ruin the printer, but the quality was soooo bad we returned them. Black was gray -- there were missing spots on the page, etc. The wierdest thing was that...

    Bad print quality of Photo

Well I messed around with the options in MS Picture It -- found a way to adjust the printer settings and found an option in my printer settings that I never knew existed: Photo Optimizer! That did the trick. The only thing that is puzzling now is this: the picture printed out at actual size (3...
