Thanks philly44 - have done in that order as it is the order in which AD applies the policies, by default. Have discovered that you can force specific order of GPOs with 2003 GPMC, so am trying that now.
Thanks,
Dave
I am trying to automate an installation of Acrobat Reader 6, simoultaneously, with a an uninstall of Reader 5 via Active Directory GPO, onto 900 Win 2k PCs.
At the moment, this is what I have:
Firstly, on boot up, Reader 6 installs via an .msi file.
Then, a startup script which successfully...
Does anyone know of any patches/fixes to prevent the man-in-the-middle attacks described here?

Is this fixed in Windows 2000 SP4?
Cheers,
Dave.
We have a Windows 2000 server/2000 professional/AD environment. I am trying to prevent users installing unauthorised software on their PCs.
None of the users are set up as local administrators or power users, and I have enabled the policy 'Disable add/remove programs' applied to users, in AD...
I am new to an inherited Novell Netware 5.1 network running NDS verion 8.85.
Can anyone please tell me how to specify/use the full distinguished login syntax, to include user, NDS tree and context.
Many thanks,
Dave.
It isn't the whole mouse setup I want to change (motion, buttons.....), just need to stop animated pointers which some users have selected. We use a 'Proxy' type support package to take control of remote PCs, and animated objects hog band width thus slowing the whole process to near standstill...
Cheers - have already tried deleting the 'Cursors' directory, on a test PC (and your other suggestion). This is fine if the user has not yet changed their pointer, however if they have done, they do not get the default pointer but retain the one they selected themselves - they can not, then...
Thanks, but I'm afraid that doesn't really help me as many of our users have already changed their pointers. I suppose what I'm ideally looking for is a way of forcing the users to use either the default pointer, or a specified .cur file.
Just thought there may be a way thru' AD.
Any other ideas...
Can anyone please tell me how to, either, restrict users from changing their mouse pointers, or force them to use a specified one thru' Active Directory Group Policy?
Thanks in advance.
Could anybody help please?
I would like to know whether there is a way to remove the 'transition effects', within desktop display properties, for every user. We are running terminal services over relatively low bandwidth, and it is a pain when new users are created having to change this on a per...

You can include an user account name and password in the script e.g.
net use x: \\server\share (password) /user:(username)
If the user has rights to the share, you do not need to add the '/user:(username)
cheers,
Dave.
