For gaming I've discovered that one of the best ways to keep system resources free is to disable virtually everything using the System Configuration Utility (MSCONFIG). The only problem is that each time I do this I have check/uncheck what services and/or startup items I want to run. Is there...
I have been told that there is software available that will reveal IP addresses to other users of Yahoo Messenger. Does anyone know what applications would enable someone to do that and/or if there is a way to block it?
I agree with most of the guys here. Although building your own PC may be slightly more expensive up front, it leaves a lot more room for expansion and in the long run may be cheaper on you if go with gradual upgrades.
Choosing your own parts can actually make for a much more reliable system...
I appreciate all the help guys. Unfortunately, it still isn't working, and something is toast. I only have one PC that supports all the current components, so I'll have to take it somewhere to have someone figure out what is still good. Just so you'll know, I had the motherboard unplugged and...
Okay, this is probably going to end up being a long thread, so I'll just try and go step by step with it. I just am hoping some people can chime in to help me thinking outside the box. A friend of mine had a PC that he suddenly stopped working. He said he heard a "pop" and then he couldn't...
thanks everyone... sounds like there is not much of a benefit for the person I'm giving it to. If it were staying with me I'd probably do it just to play with it, but no real benefit otherwise.
Actually, the machine is going out to someone who is asking me to combine a couple of systems of his. He was given (or purchased) this HP Netserver. He has a lousy video card in it, so I don't think he will be planning on doing much gaming. (I don't think a PIII 500 would be capable of much...
I have inherited an old HP Netserver E60 currently running a PIII 500. I am fortunate enough to have on hand a couple of PII 400s. This server supports a dual processor configuration, so would it be beneficial to me to install both the PII 400s instead? This will only be for home use, so I'm...
I realize some people are very sensitive and feel disprected more easily than others. For that I apologize. I have pretty thin skin, and sometimes I suppose I "speak" too soon.
Not at all... I just thought I had heard at one time there was some way to tell what opearting system a user has. Sorry... I stand corrected. The reason I thought this was that I have used a site called statcounter that reported what OS and browser visitors had used. But I guess as far as I...
Thanks Bill,
I was sort of hoping to come across a tutorial somewhere that gives me the basic idea on how they are created. I figured if I could get through that, then maybe eventually I could expand upon that.
Thanks Jeffy,
Actually I have discovered that I am only getting the message from a preview in FrontPage. So for now, I am okay. I still believe however, there is probably a script somewhere that will detect if the user is currently running SP2 or not. Then you might be able to redirect to...
