    Yes, I know. But there was a tool (I think made by 3rd party) that used NBU tape and acted as a local drive which could be used by BRMS. Unfortunately it seems this doesn't exist anymore.

    Maybe try to to create a special diskpool (doesn't have to be big) and mgmt class for directories and use dirmc in your client opt file. Use the diskpool as target for the new mgmt class.
