thanks bwtc! you were right, they both had the same line assigned. I was able to remove the line assignment from 366. so now it doesn't ring when 555-555-5822 is dialed.
but I'm not sure what you mean by checking the RECV'D digits for 366.
yes, I'm referring to direct-dial. when 555-555-5822 is dialed, both ext 822 and 366 rings. But when dialing 555-555-5366, all I get is a dead line.
internally however, ext 366 functions like all the others.
I found this thread but it didn't help.

-I have exts 366 and 822 both ringing when the external # for 822 is dialed. Dialing the external # for ext 366 results with a dead line.
-internal calls to 822, only rings 822. internal calls to 366...
HAhaha...go figure, this is gonna sound dumb but the whack actually did something. I held the base up with my left hand, turned it on its side and smacked the bottom of it with my right hand several times. plugged it back in, now the handset registers a dial tone. I dunno...whatever...
Swapping out the handset didn't make any difference. Still dead. Don't have any headsets around so I can't try it. Right now, I just have the whole unit swapped out with another one, so the line changed but at least calls can be made using the handset.
thanks for the reply. yes, the first thing I checked was to make sure the lines were in the right jacks. the headset one is empty. I already checked the volume/mute as well.
I have a T7316E that works fine with speakerphone but not with the handset. When the handset is lifted, a line is selected but no dial tone can be heard. Whereas when the speakerphone button is pressed, a line is selected and a dial tone can be heard. ideas?
Well, RM6 is only used with the A3500 and A3500FC arrays (basically a bunch of D1000 bricks attached to a controller) from Sun. Volume Manager, on the other hand can be used with any group of disks (internal, jbods, harware raid bricks, etc). So in your case, you really don't gain much from...
z28sarefun, normally the newer firmware is better. the problem you had was most likely because you guys only updated the firmware on the system boards but not the IO boats, repeater boards, and SCs. maybe things would've gone smoother if the entire platform was updated. now i have seen...
First off, it's a 6800 not E. Not to be nit picky but the whole Enterprise and SunFire line are diff.
Are you planning on using DR to bring the board into the domain? If you're not too familiar with the SunFires or cfgadm, you might just wanna bring the dom down and add the board thru the SC...
If you're just gonna reinstall from scratch, just boot off the CD by:
1) hard reboot the system
2) after POST and the banner is displayed, press STOP-A (the Stop key + A key) if you don't have a head/keyboard on this box then just send a break with whatever terminal you are using
3) you should...
