found the problem. there is a BT router on our network issuing IP address's also so that was why it was working but not showing in the address lease table. Now i have to start again but this time disconnect the router from the network.
Have just installed DHCP on my server which seems to work fine as i have
connected a PC to my domain which uses a DHCP IP address. Only problem i have
is that i can't view the PC in the DHCP - address leases tool.
any ideas why this is?
Hi, i see seem to have fixed this problem by removing and re-inserting the computer on the domain.
Going to have a go at DHCP now.

sorry, i mean on the client PC when logging in. I hit the Log On To: drop down menu to select the domain and it takes about 5 minutes+ although i can just hit alt ctrl del and it stops.
I haven't done or touched anything on the XP Pro PC. Just trying to add it to the domain. Its a brand new install.
Do i need to tap in a DNS location on the TCP/IP setting on the NIC? If so how would i find the DNS address?
