zz after i did another repair install, the computer restarts and gets stuck before the password login screen. it says no video input

the thing is i cant even copy and paste which steps 2 and 3 require my computer is runnign service pack 3 now. but my xp cd is service pack 1. so when i do the repair installation, could there be some sort of conflict? i also cant add/remove programs when i tried to uninstall service pack 3.
