    I have been having the same problem with tcsh. I think I might have worked out a solution, tho I've not tested it fully yet. I've been testing with my root crontab as - 00 8 * * * (exec tcsh </usr/script.sh &) My script.sh test file simply does a sleep 120, and I see the parent PID becomes 1...

    No, It's just a list of product info. You can rename it (eg OraInst.816 etc), in case you need to patch the previous system (OUI uses it to check products installed when you add new products/patches). When you need to use OUI on the old version, copy back the renamed version of the file. Bob

    Check for a file oraInst.loc in /var/opt/oracle. It is created when you install Oracle, and holds inventory info for the installation. If it is there, rename it. The new install will create it's own. Bob
