OEM & FULL CD's want to see the absense of windows on the hard drive as opposed to Upgrade CD's which will install either way (on an empty hard drive you would need to "show" it a valid upgrade product during the install)
If you get the "appropriate" motherboard for that model then the recovery...
As a side note to last post:
I had originally checked for the CLSID that tsuji mentioned, it was not there, so i added it with the appropriate DLL entry, that alone didnt work, then i did the regsvr32 trick and all was good... till i went back and deleted the key from the registry... it would...
This fixed it for me after a 98lite shell swap I had the same problem, for WIN9x and IE 4/5 combo:
Go to Start Run and:
for WIN95 w/IE4 type:
regsvr32.exe /i shdocvw.dll
for WIN98 w/IE5 type:
regsvr32.exe /i shdoc401.dll
No reboot/logout was nessacery :)
