To edit httpd.conf the best possible way is to use apache admin ( ApacheAdmin ). Its a httpd.conf gui from hqware with IIS admin like interface. you can download it from http://www.hqware.com I just started using it and find it comfortable.

I am getting Forbidden messages on my server. I cannot access the directories inside the root directory from the web. It says Forbidden. Everything is set to 755...what do i need to do in apache configuration to sort it out. Thanx
Thanks man, I'll reload the module (.so) and get back to you here with more information. I am kind of surprised that all apache servers should be able to load .so files but then when I added "loadmodule" to the .conf file, and restarted, I got an error message. I'll get back to ya. Bye.
Hello folks I am new to Apache installation.
Could anyone advise me how to re-install apache coz when I added mod-gzip module to the httpd.conf and restarted apache, it complained that it does not support modules.
I guess I have to reinstall/recompile this product on the linux server?
