The problem being is that powerpoint application is actually running on the default primary monitor and all your doing is dragging the presentation to the second monitor. what happens if you try running it the other way round ie the presentation on the primary monitor and open anouther...
It really sounds as if you have god your images mixed up as wolluf said. double check the image with ghost explorer that will tell you what image your using.
change bios to boot from cd, place w2k cd in drive on the first screen go to set up 2000 not repair... on the second screen then do a repair it will run through all the set up but wont delete any of the files or any programs install. all will work fine after,
