Application server upgrade

Application server upgrade

(OP)
Hi ...

When Upgrade Application Server from ISO/DVD and chose the upgrade option, is this affect the recording storage partition and Voicemail.
or all is still as after upgrade ?

Thanks

RE: Application server upgrade

Bop2018, do you have access to the Avaya SSO login?

If so then you should also have access to the documentation for IP Office.
I looked at your history (very short smile ) and you ask really basic questions that are easily found answers for in the manuals.

Try the knowledgebase for it.

If you don't have access to the SSO login then you should sign up with Avaya because it has all the information for basic stuff you ever want to have.

HI WESTI...

I SEE AND READ AND KNOW. But you are here all experts and need to be sure of I want to do before.

Thanks and sorry

RE: Application server upgrade

Then hire some qualified help then

RE: Application server upgrade

Experts become experts by
Doing backups
Doing the upgrade and the
Either restore or verify that the programming is still there.
I know it is nerve wrecking when you try something new and hope that the manual is right but you have to do backups anyways so if the programming is gone you restore it from the backup and be done.

The upgrade also doesn't work from every release to any release so that plays a role.

Sorry... that sounds for me that it is easier for you to ask basic questions here instead of sitting down on your butt and check what is documented or visiting any trainings.

Sorry Westi I disagree, experts become experts by BREAKING the system & then having to FIX IT* (for the fast track break a critical site ooh when there is no support available) then working out what & why it went wrong

however yes Backup is the key

*The important part is succeeding in fixing it so if you can break a lab system regularly it helps smile

RE: Application server upgrade

I was going to post about the same thing as IPGuru. I learn more by breaking things and learning how to fix them.

RE: Application server upgrade

& the real experts are simply the ones who can break it, then fix it before anyone notices winky smile

RE: Application server upgrade

Hmm,I have the name of breaking the unbreakable smile

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

RE: Application server upgrade

Ok I agree with the breaking thing.
But I break things accidentally without intend and fix them then.
Or replace them, lol

RE: Application server upgrade

Old adage:-

To avoid making mistakes you need experience, to gain experience you must make mistakes smile

in the early days of IPO (before V2.1 & the introduction of validated upgrade) the 1st thing I taught engineers was how to recover a CPU that had had its firmware erased (I also uploaded an FAQ about this & how to prevent getting caught out)

RE: Application server upgrade

I remember the old crap upgrades.
Some versions worked when you broadcasted others when you specified the IP address and using the wrong one meant DTE recovery.
Being the only IPO guy in the company those days meant a lot of upgrades and a50% chance of having to use the DTE method to recover.
But after a while you have it down pat and it only takes 10 minutes to do.

But I have to say the documentation seemed to be better those days.
But fluffed up with useless information but down to the point which made it easier to read up on stuff.
