UPS suitable for gib screen TV ? ?

UPS suitable for gib screen TV ? ?

I have purchased a JVS big screen TV. Marketed as a D-ILA. Based on LCOS technology. (big screen TV lingo).

It has a 110 watt pressure-mercury projection bulb, specs list it as a 190 watt TV.

When it is switched off the cooling fan runs for 90 seconds to cool the bulb.

I would prefer to run it through a UPS instead of a surge protector to keep the cooling fans running when the electricity goes off.

My 2 questions are:

1. Is it advisable to use a UPS for this type of application?

2. Does a UPS in fact furnish adequate power spike protection as surge protectors are marketed to do?
